It's time to lace up your running shoes and race for a reason!
This year, our much-loved Wishlist K’s 4 Cancer event will not be going ahead, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on running for Wishlist!
Instead, we’re inviting you to join Team Wishlist in the Sunshine Coast Marathon on Sunday, 3 August 2025 and make a difference in the lives of patients in our local community.
By joining Team Wishlist, you will get 10% off your entry fee AND get your race entry reimbursed when you raise $1000 or more!
Get fit, challenge yourself and fundraise for Wishlist to support patients and their families in need of our local hospitals.
No matter your fitness level, there are races for everyone to get involved:
If Chris can cross the finish line, so can you!
In June 2024, Chris Perry was declared an ASIA A quadriplegic, with no movement below his neck. But with unwavering determination and a mindset of getting one percent better every day, he began regaining the use of his hands, arms, and eventually his legs.
Just three months after his accident, he took his first steps and four months later, Chris participated in Wishlist K’s 4 Cancer, walking the final 100 meters to cross the finish line.
“One percent better every day, that’s what keeps me going.” – Chris Perry.
Your support will...
- Reduce the wait times for over 500 children with complex medical issues by funding a Senior Pharmacist to free up doctors to see more patients ($35,700).
- Bring hope and comfort to women navigating the heartache of early pregnancy complications by establishing an Early Pregnancy Assessment Service at Gympie Hospital including essential equipment like a specialised examination chair and ultrasound machine ($70,800).
- Ease the burden on families by investing in remote supervision software for Maternal Foetal Medicine Ultrasounds at SCUH. This will ensure access to high-level ultrasound reviews and training for future specialists, without the stress of long-distance travel for patients ($14,425).
Top fundraising tips
- Donate to yourself: start your fundraising journey by giving yourself a round of applause and donating to your own fundraising page. Your supporters are likely to follow your lead and donate the same amount as you did.
- Share your fundraising page: share your page with family, friends and colleagues and let them know why this cause is close to your heart. Every contribution counts, no matter how big or small.
- Costume run: dress up as a superhero, a famous character, or in a crazy costume - you can even let your donors vote on the costume choice.
- Create a prize: consider offering a prize to one lucky donor such as a gift basket or fitness gear.
- Bake sale: organise a bake sale in your workplace where all proceeds can go to your fundraiser.
